Atlanta Humane Society The Communications Specialist is a key role for a strong communicator who is passionate about media relations, digital marketing, and organizational communications. This position will report to the Digital Fundraising and Marketing Manager but will support the entire Marketing and Communications team by helping to share impactful animal stories, coordinate media opportunities, and assist with digital and administrative tasks across multiple brands. Duties And Responsibilities Media & Storytelling Manage PR and media relations, including supporting staff with talking points for interviews and speaking engagements. Serve as the main point of contact for Pet of the Week and other media partnerships. Grow the organization’s presence through new media partnerships and proactive relationship building with journalists and outlets. Digital Marketing & Website Support Provide website support through routine content and page updates. Design and create adoptable lightboxes and other storytelling assets for the website and digital use. Draft and edit adoption bios for animals, collaborating with staff and volunteers. Assist with updating intake photos and website images for adoption profiles as needed. Write and edit blog content. Support social media through tasks such as monitoring comments and messages, creating Facebook events, and producing short-form video content for Reels and TikTok. Administrative & Data Support Pull and analyze website data and reports using GA4 to inform strategy. Import prospects into Salesforce/Pardot and assist with email list management. Maintain clean data by updating contact lists and handling opt-out requests. Monitor and respond to Google Reviews. Keep the marketing team’s project management system (ClickUp) organized and accurate to ensure projects and tasks remain on track. Provide AV support for internal and external events as needed. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 1-3 years of experience in communications, media relations, digital marketing, or content creation (nonprofit experience a plus). Strong writing and editing skills with experience in storytelling and public messaging. Ability to manage multiple projects, be detail-oriented, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Experience with platforms like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, ClickUp, Salesforce, Sprout Social, and/or WordPress a plus. Passion for animal welfare and Atlanta Humane Society’s mission. Ability to commute to Atlanta Humane Society’s locations and media stations as needed. Applications with a current portfolio will be prioritized. Seniority level
