Finance Manager – Oxford Instruments Asylum Research

The Finance Manager will focus on financial and commercial value drivers, providing financial and commercial advice to actively support the business and its customers. The Finance Manager is responsible for understanding, communicating and acting on the financial performance of the business, supporting functions (notably product management and operations) in driving value creation. The role retains responsibility for the business numbers, financial planning and forecasting, and the analysis of R&D and capital investment decisions. Key Responsibilities
Develop annual budget, annual strategic growth plan, and monthly reforecasts with three statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow). Operate as a key member of the Asylum leadership team, maintaining effective cross-department relationships. Maintain communication with finance and Group management in Oxford Instruments head office and across the Group; may require occasional early mornings (Europe). Oversee divisional accounts receivable processes and team members; familiarity with letters of credit is helpful. Oversee divisional corporate credit card and expense reporting processes. Produce, understand and communicate regular and ad-hoc reporting to divisional management and Group leadership with analysis and business insights. Work with product managers to understand product strategy and drive revenue and margin improvements; monitor KPIs for product strategy implementation; provide financial analysis during new product introduction phase gates. Review global and regional pricing strategies and provide recommendations to optimize pricing for value creation. Collaborate with operations to drive operational efficiencies and margin improvements. Support divisional strategic sourcing and procurement projects. Provide pricing, financial terms, and analytical support to contracts, tenders and projects; ensure pricing decisions reflect risks. Deliver financial assessment of R&D and capital expenditure projects; monitor projects to ensure benefits are realized. Responsible for export compliance for the Asylum business. Deliver an optimal cash management profile, driving working capital improvements. Responsible for annual royalty calculations and reporting, including development and compliance with contracts. Focus on analysis and accounting judgment; own data and information, coordinate with Finance Operations for process compliance and output quality; review month-end close with the shared service team. Ensure appropriate delegation of transaction initiation and approval to maximize efficiency. Monitor divisional performance and provide commentary and recommendations against performance metrics; undertake business planning and portfolio reviews. Implement and comply with Group policy, controls and standardized processes. Provide financial and commercial advice with risk identification and management. In-person divisional financial operations duties as required (e.g., deposits, mail triage, risk register updates, vendor setup, tax reporting, inventory counts, audit support). Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent 5+ years of relevant experience Proven experience at a senior divisional level Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills Strong organizational and analytical skills, including valuation methodologies and KPIs High energy and drive; demonstrated delivery in a demanding, multi-stakeholder environment Strong commercial acumen with a mindset to improve practices and processes High integrity and professionalism with strong emotional awareness Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting at senior levels Ability to work independently and build cross-functional relationships Salary : In accordance with California law, the expected salary for this full-time position is between $122,000 - $162,000, plus a management bonus.
