Machinist/Technical Associate - Urgent Need

Overview
Position : Machinist/Technical Associate
Location : Sumter, SC
Duration : 12 Months
Total Hours/Week : 40
Shift : 1st Shift (will transition to night shift after training if needed; assignment to the shift with the greatest need).
Client : Medical Devices Company
Level of Experience : Entry Level
Employment Type : Contract on W2 (US Citizens, GC Holders, GC EAD, OPT, EAD, or CPT)
Responsibilities
Set up, operate, optimize, changeover/troubleshoot, and maintain assigned departmental production equipment. Responsible for meeting/exceeding production standards, maintaining product quality, minimizing/preventing equipment downtime, and sustaining budgeted waste levels on a daily basis.
Repair machine breakdowns and troubleshoot problems; start up equipment and ensure proper functioning of machines and control panels; monitor component inventories and safety guards.
Maintain equipment logs for each piece of equipment, noting downtime and maintenance problems; perform preventive maintenance as specified in the plant PM program or as needed for smooth operation.
Read and interpret machine tools blueprints; set up, debug equipment, and verify conformance to specifications; deviations must be cleared with supervisor or Engineering.
Operate within a team environment and support upstream and downstream operations; perform rework as required.
Time-on-shift expectations: training on days; 12-hour night shift after training on a 3-2-2-3 schedule; not a machine operator.
Required Skills / Qualifications
Mechanical Troubleshooting/Experience
Knowledge of feeler gauges and other tools to measure tolerances, torque, and clearances
Familiarity with cams, cam-followers, rod-ends, bushings, chain drives, conveyors, gear-boxes; vacuum systems, pneumatic systems, ball valves; basic troubleshooting of same
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 100 pounds
