Provides Tank Engineering support for Energy Transfer’s Western area Aboveground Storage Tank Program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Provide Tank Engineering support for Energy Transfer’s Western area above-ground Storage Tank Program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including coordination of tank inspections and repairs, with project costs ranging from $5k to $5MM, to deliver cost-effective solutions. Maintain accurate tank information, data, and records, and communicate status of tank maintenance and repair projects. Select appropriate tank coatings considering stored material, tank environment, and compliance with Energy Transfer Coating Manual. Work with Corrosion Services and the Corrosion Technician to evaluate cathodic protection conditions impacting tank bottom corrosion rates. Use tank integrity inspection and analysis tools (e.g., API-Risk Based Inspection where allowed) to determine inspection extent and strategies. Ensure safety procedures and policies are communicated and enforced with tank contractors by developing project specifications, including MOCs and review of SSSPs (Site Specific Safety Plans) and JSA (Job Safety Analysis). Coordinate and communicate with tank contractors and on-site inspectors on degassing, cleaning, inspection, and repairs. Execute project management duties from inception through completion, including AFEs, cost estimates, schedules, work scopes, contracts and releases, and construction management. Manage project financials, forecasting, and scheduling to meet capital plan and timeline. Provide strategic guidance to assist with long-range planning and budgeting. Provide engineering expertise for troubleshooting maintenance and operational improvement of ET aboveground storage tank facilities to ensure asset integrity. Communicate and interface with Operations, Business Development, and HES to address all matters relating to aboveground storage tanks. Participate in regulatory audits as requested by compliance. Maintain working knowledge of industry codes and requirements as well as company Engineering Standards & Procedures. Requirements
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. BS in Engineering 3-6 years of related experience, preferably with pipeline and terminal facilities Strong PC skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, field personnel, and professionals Customer-focused attitude and demonstrated ability to function as a team player Preferred Qualifications
BS in Mechanical or Civil Engineering API 653 Certificate Working knowledge of tank repair procedures such as cleaning, welding, material selection; ability to quickly learn API standards/practices related to aboveground storage tanks Working knowledge of API 650, API 653, DOT Part 195 regulations and/or experience with tank construction or maintenance A valid and current TWIC Card or eligibility for employment-based requirements Working Conditions
Usually, normal office working conditions Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs Must be able to work at elevated heights and in confined spaces; frequent climbing of equipment, ladders, and scaffolds Must be able to drive for extended periods and travel beyond 90 miles Safe driving record required for company vehicle use Minimum 20% travel to facilities in the assigned territory and outside the area with potential temporary assignments, meetings, and training Occasional unscheduled callouts and extended workdays/weeks Position may be subject to DOT Drug & Alcohol regulations Occasional visits to industrial settings with hazardous materials; may require PPE
