Senior Storekeeper

Boston Water & Sewer Commission Employees must be Boston residents on their date of hire and for the duration of their employment subject to BWSC policies and collective bargaining agreements. Position Purpose Provides inventory support and preventative maintenance on all equipment within the Storeroom; works under the general direction of the Principal Storekeeper in order to maintain control of all inventory required for the necessary equipment used in daily operations within the Commission. Essential Functions (The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Accounts for and tracks all equipment, parts and supplies in the storeroom. Receives, stores, and distributes all parts and supplies. Monitors all materials/parts received to ensure compliance with order specifications in terms of quality, quantity and packaging requirements. Assists in the maintenance and preparation of appropriate levels of inventory based upon established minimum/maximum points. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of all reports pertaining to the inventory value, status and activity levels. Assists in the taking and recording of all physical inventories. Checks equipment and performs limited preventive maintenance as required. Assists in the establishment of standard specifications for equipment, parts and supplies. Supervises and assists assigned staff in the performance of their duties. Delivers equipment, parts and supplies to job sites. May be required to operate a forklift. Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates. Recommended Minimum Qualifications Education, Training and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in the maintenance and tracking inventory of parts and supplies, preferably in the public sector working with local government. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and a valid Massachusetts Hoisting License with 1D restriction. May be required to complete Waste Water Collection Course and obtain certification. May be required to complete Water Distribution Course. Knowledge, Ability and Skill Familiarity with basic office procedures; working knowledge of MS Office applications including Outlook; working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures; completion of both the waste water and the water distribution courses may be required. Excellent customer service skills; strong organizational skills; basic data entry skills; excellent supervisory skills. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
