Overview
Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Medicine in Charleston, SC invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. MUSC and MUSC Health are experiencing growth with increases in extramural research funding, new clinical outreach facilities, expansion of telehealth, and a new Children's and Women’s Hospital. Reporting directly to the Dean of the MUSC College of Medicine, the chair is charged with advancing the academic, clinical and research missions of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and with guiding the department’s strategic direction for MUSC and MUSC Health. The department includes over 60 full-time faculty, 40 staff, and nearly 30 residents and fellows with nine fellowships and five clinical divisions. The chair will seek to enhance multidisciplinary clinical and research collaborations across MUSC, continue the department’s growth, and position it as a regional, national and international leader in education, training, research, patient care and service. The position requires leadership and administrative experience in an academic medical center, a strong track record in clinical care, education, service and research, and board certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
