EnergySolutions . Job Summary Initiates and develops mechanical equipment designs. May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments. Able to take mechanical systems from concept through to commissioning and testing. Applies extensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices across broad areas. Makes independent decisions on complex engineered systems, based on experience and seniority. Job Duties/Responsibilities Performs engineering calculations to ensure compliance with project and code requirements, including stress calculations, equipment sizing, etc. Creates and reviews drawings, specifications, and data sheets. Prepares and approves design documents and plant modifications, supervising designers as needed. Provides technical guidance to resolve equipment and system issues. Familiar with relevant national codes and standards. Ensures design criteria, specifications, and safety standards are incorporated. Collaborates with team members and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient work. Works on multidisciplinary projects, ensuring design integration. Checks design media for accuracy and completeness. Adheres to schedules, taking corrective actions as necessary. Complies with environmental, health, and safety policies; provides leadership to the design team. Recommends improvements to equipment, concepts, and techniques. Conducts research and analysis for plant modifications. Supports installation and testing activities. Prepares cost estimates and manages work to meet project budgets and schedules. Works under supervision, applying judgment and creativity. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education, Experience, and Certifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience. Certifications: None required; EIT preferred; PE license advantageous. Skills Effective communication skills. Intermediate skills in Mechanical Design software and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of industry codes and regulations. Physical and Work Environment Requirements Ability to lift up to 10 pounds, handle tools, and work in various environments.
