Cultural Resources Field Director

in California, in particular the Los Angeles Area or Central Valley/Coast locales. As a Field Director, under the direction of a Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing archaeological fieldwork for studies in support of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office. Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct the fieldwork component of cultural resources projects Mentor field staff and provide guidance and leadership on field needs Operate as Rincon’s field representative upholding the values of the company, including fostering a safety-first culture Interface with clients, tribal consultants, and other contractors Manage post-processing of artifacts, paperwork, etc. Compliance with project conditions such as mitigation monitoring and reporting programs and conditions of approval Working with multidisciplinary teams for successful project execution Contribute to documents for CEQA and NEPA compliance, such as Environmental Impact Reports and Environmental Impact Statements Other duties as required by supervisor(s) This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:

B.A., M.A., or Ph.D. degree in anthropology, archaeology, historical archaeology, or related field. Minimum of 1 year of field director experience in Cultural Resources Management Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) certification preferred Expertise in historical and prehistoric archaeology An understanding of the CEQA, NEPA, and Section 106 of the NHPA Strong fieldwork skills including execution of surveys, artifact analysis and subsurface testing and data recovery Ability to manage complex and diverse fieldwork Ability to travel up to 80 percent of the time Ability to work in extreme environments such as heat, elevation, or heavily wooded areas, etc. Strong work ethic, demonstrated leadership ability, good communication skills, and ability to field direct multiple projects Prior experience in California Desired

Experience with utility providers, specifically Southern California Gas Company, Southern California Edison, or Pacific Gas and Electric Company Strong preference for BLM qualified Field Director Experience with paleontology Rincon Consultants is an award-winning leader in providing quality environmental consulting services throughout California and is recognized as a ‘Best Environmental Services Firm to Work For’ by the Zweig Group. The base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000–$95,000, plus a generous benefits program.
