Car Keys Express Purpose : Leads the company's overall technology strategy, overseeing both R&D and Web Development teams. Aligns innovation with business objectives by driving technical excellence, managing key development initiatives, and collaborating closely with executive leadership to support company growth. Summary : The Vice President of Engineering & IT plays a critical role in shaping the company's technological direction, ensuring timely delivery of innovative, scalable, and cost-effective solutions. This position provides leadership to the Engineering and IT teams, supports strategic planning, and acts as a business partner to departments across the organization. Duties Critical to Success : Provide strategic direction and oversight to R&D and web development teams. Partner with the C-suite to identify opportunities for technology-driven growth and innovation. Own cross-functional technology initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet business objectives. Lead, mentor, and develop Engineering and IT department leaders and staff. Define and enforce standard operating procedures for software development. Establish and monitor project scopes, specifications, budgets, and resource allocations in collaboration with leadership. Drive patent strategy and manage external relationships with patent attorneys for innovative technologies. Oversee software architecture planning, system reliability, security, and integration across platforms. Facilitate collaboration between technical teams and business departments to support operational excellence and productivity. Track and report on KPIs related to system performance, team efficiency, and ROI of technology initiatives. Ensure regulatory compliance across all technology functions (FCC, UL, data privacy, etc.). Champion agile development methodologies and continuous improvement across all areas of technology. Lead succession planning, cross-training, and continuity plans for all key technology functions. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Critical To Success : Visionary leadership in technical and product innovation Strong understanding of both embedded system design and web technologies Project and portfolio management expertise (PMI or Agile frameworks preferred) Advanced communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills Solid understanding of system security, scalability, and integration strategies Proven success aligning IT and engineering functions with business goals Familiarity with regulatory environments and software quality assurance best practices Expertise with LAMP stack, embedded systems, MySQL, APIs, and system architecture Experience managing technical IP and patent strategies Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities Deliverables : Scalable, secure, and high-performance systems and hardware that support business growth Standardized processes and metrics across all technical teams Timely and successful delivery of strategic development initiatives Professional development and retention of high-performing technical talent Cross-functional alignment between Engineering, IT, and business units Business continuity and risk mitigation plans for all key systems and teams Relations To Supervisory And Subordinating Roles Within Company : Immediate Supervisor: Chief Operating Officer. Direct Reports: Director of Information Technology, Director of Engineering.
