Direct and supervise the Card Operations staff and functions to ensure accurate, timely and efficient performance of Card Operations. Maintain excellent knowledge in all legal codes, rules, and regulations to protect members and the integrity of the credit union. Motivate staff to meet Golden 1 Credit Union’s strategic goals. Recommends and implements efficiencies to the Card Operations Department. There are four objectives as a leader at Golden 1 Credit Union: Elevate to a High-Performing Team – Manage, develop, coach talent Own the Risk – Own the risk of the processes within role mandate Execute Flawless and Efficient Processes – Be the owner of the processes including all requirements, systems, execution outcomes, member experience, metrics, reporting and communication Cultivate Peer Relationships Responsibilities
Lead a team of staff in meeting the credit union’s strategic goals: motivate through coaching, training, counseling, monitoring and feedback; maintain an open working environment; promote teamwork and communication; administer payroll, personnel reports and management analysis; oversee all departmental functions for compliance, timeliness, and accuracy. Perform supervisory functions to ensure quality service, products, security, and staff; plan, organize, and control daily department operations; ensure compliance with security and confidentiality of member records; communicate policies effectively; provide monthly department updates. Foster relationships with external partners such as card companies and system providers to drive payment acceptance and processing initiatives related to the Credit Union’s settlement. Maintain knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance, including bank secrecy and anti‑money laundering laws applicable to the position. Promote a positive and engaging work environment; encourage skill development, coaching for improvement and growth; maintain high morale and align with mission, vision and values. Research, analyze, identify alternatives, and recommend improvements for operational efficiency; update and maintain department procedures and manuals; ensure staff confidentiality; perform system validations and adjust procedures for branches and staff; address member concerns. Participate in research, development and implementation of new card products and services. Identify, investigate, resolve, and respond to cardholder/member concerns via phone, email, or written correspondence. Maintain current working knowledge of established Card Card and Credit Union rules, regulations, policies, and practices; ensure security and internal audit controls. Coordinate with external contacts, processors, vendors, and related organizations; prepare data-driven analysis on a regular cadence; provide data tracking of promotional campaigns. Assist in training and coaching on procedural changes; test and validate system enhancements; collaborate with branches, departments and management to improve operational efficiency. Participate in departmental projects to account for contingencies; ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation. Oversee ATM operations, balance reconciliations with GL accounts, payroll, attendance, and system changes; maintain knowledge of card systems and train staff on enhancements. Prepare invoices, assist with budgeting and variance reporting; maintain understanding of regulatory requirements and risk controls; document and manage operational risks. Direct, schedule, train, counsel, monitor and evaluate department staff; participate in hiring and promotions; support employee performance management and discipline as needed. Develop and maintain regulatory knowledge relevant to card operations and implement control activities in line with the Credit Union’s risk appetite. Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience. EXPERIENCE: Five years or more of progressive experience at a financial institution with at least one year of supervisory experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Leadership, management and organizational skills; strong oral and written communication; time management and ability to multitask; analytical and planning skills; proficiency with Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; ability to work independently and meet deadlines; strong member relations and confidentiality. Physical Requirements
Prolonged sitting with occasional mobility. Corrected vision within normal range; normal hearing; assistive devices if needed. Occasional movement to interact with staff; ability to travel for business as needed; may require occasional changes in work hours. Notes
