Bruker Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) is seeking an Electrical Manufacturing Engineer to join Sustaining Engineering, leading supply chain enhancements, resolving end-of-life issues, and maintaining optimal performance for production test equipment. Key responsibilities and role focus: Support the evolution of AFM system control and data acquisition electronics. Support evaluation of alternative design approaches by performing analysis, modeling, and tests. Support electronics design, analysis, prototyping, and system integration. Select electronic components based on function, availability, reliability, and cost. Work with functional teams to achieve reliable, manufacturable, serviceable, and testable designs. Develop test plans and methodologies to verify performance against requirements. Design test fixtures to ensure compliance with product and manufacturing specifications. Create product documentation, including BOMs, fabrication files, and assembly drawings. Support product and regulatory compliance testing; ensure compliance with internal and external standards where applicable. Provide technical troubleshooting and failure analysis for new and existing product lines. Document project decisions and communicate with cross-functional teams. Serve as technical interface with 3rd party development partners and vendors to ensure quality. Support New Product Introduction (NPI), Sustaining Engineering, and Quality Engineering activities. Follow company policies and processes; write, review, and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECO). Support cross-functional teams and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Sustaining Engineering (80%) Support or lead supply chain improvement projects as needed. Support production to achieve on-time shipment (OTS) and revenue goals. Design, develop, test, and qualify product and production improvements (tooling, fixtures, documentation). Review and approve first article parts. Solve end-of-life issues for off-the-shelf components and identify alternative components. Create and improve drawings, documentation, work instructions, BOMs, and routings via ECO processes. Contribute to Material Review Board (MRB) for non-conforming materials. Use CAPA to improve product and processes. Troubleshoot and test electromechanical and electrical assemblies to support production. Ensure and improve uptime for production test equipment and tooling. Support cost-reduction activities (design changes, insourcing/outsourcing, resourcing). Initiate and contribute to product quality improvement activities. New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering (10%) Collaborate with cross-functional NPI teams from concept through manufacturing readiness and volume production. Promote DFx guidelines (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Reliability, and Service). Provide feedback to design engineers during design reviews using DFx principles. Lead process FMEA (pFMEA) activities and contribute to design FMEA (dFMEA). Deliver manufacturing engineering and quality engineering outputs during all NPI phases. Produce progress reports, metrics, and presentations; create quality inspection plans and first article documents for new parts. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Experience in integration and verification of high-performance analog designs. Experience in FPGA/microprocessor programming for high-performance applications. Experience in system controls (motion, feedback), data acquisition, and analysis. Experience in troubleshooting and debugging electronic circuits to the component level. Experience in PCB design, analysis, assembly, test, and troubleshooting. Experience with OrCAD/Cadence Allegro, Altera/Quartus, and PSpice or similar tools. Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience in identifying and qualifying alternate components for PCBAs and other electrical assemblies. Experience interpreting electrical schematics and maintaining BOMs. Experience in writing Engineering Changes and in creating/editing work instructions and routings. Experience in preparing and presenting project updates and reports. Ability to work independently, be a strong team player, detail-oriented, organized, and hands-on. Some travel to vendor and other international Bruker sites may be required. Ability to make decisions, lead tasks, and meet deadlines; build strong relationships and partner with others; multi-task in a fast-paced environment; mentor others as needed. Strong work ethic, curiosity, creativity, and commitment to quality; strong verbal and written communication skills. Desired Qualifications: Experience with electronic design for scientific instrumentation, metrology equipment, or similar products with high-performance control and data acquisition. Experience with power supplies (switching and linear) and high-voltage designs. Experience with IPC, ISO, and CE (EMC & Safety) standards. Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems. Experience with SolidWorks or SolidEdge; experience managing third-party contractors. Familiarity with ISO9001, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma principles. Experience in a highly engineered, low-volume, high-mix environment with mechanical, electronic, and software components. Experience in a process-oriented business environment. Physical/Environmental & Educational Requirements: Ability to lift 25 lbs. BS degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with minimum 5 years of engineering experience; MSc or higher with 2 years of experience. Compensation and benefits: Bruker’s base salary for this full-time role ranges from $95,400 to $160,000 and includes opportunities for growth, with a full benefits package and potential incentive.
