Mevion Medical Systems is seeking a dynamic and experienced
Planning & Purchasing Manager
to lead our strategic sourcing and purchasing operations in support of production and supply chain initiatives. This role is critical to ensure materials and services are acquired cost-effectively, delivered on time, and aligned with our high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of recent experience leading a procurement and supply chain team, including direct oversight of Buyers, Planners, and related personnel. They will bring a proven ability to drive performance, improve processes, and collaborate across departments to support business goals. Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Buyers, Planners, and supply chain professionals. Design and implement procurement strategies aligned with production schedules and operational priorities. Analyze market trends to identify sourcing opportunities and drive cost savings. Build and manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure quality, delivery performance, and reliability. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to maximize value and reduce supply risk. Monitor and report on supplier KPIs; initiate corrective actions when performance falls below expectations. Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to forecast demand and ensure material readiness. Optimize inventory levels and planning processes to support lean manufacturing principles. Proactively identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA regulations, and other applicable standards. Partner cross-functionally to support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in supplier audits and vendor qualification activities. Support ERP/MRP system data accuracy and drive automation of procurement processes. Qualifications
2–3 years of recent experience managing a procurement/planning/supply chain team (including Buyers/Planners). Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CPM, or Lean Six Sigma are strongly preferred. Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical devices or life sciences. Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and people management skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Deep understanding of strategic sourcing, inventory planning, and supplier performance management. Knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA regulations, and quality system requirements. Proficient in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Rootstock, NetSuite); skilled in Excel and business analytics. Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities. Analytical thinker with a continuous improvement mindset and attention to detail. Able to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment. Seniority level
