Overview
The Director of Residential Services ensures respectful, compassionate, survivor-centered responses to all persons seeking residential and/or hotline services, and oversees services to survivors of domestic violence and their families residing in all YWCA residential programs. The Director cultivates the strengths, professional growth, and leadership of all staff under their supervision.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall management of residential services including the shelter program, supportive housing, and hotline.
Create a safe, empowering living environment for all residential clients.
Provide supervision to Shelter Coordinator, Child Advocate, Shelter Counselor, Supportive Housing Case Manager, and facilities staff.
Supervise and/or develop crisis intervention, residential counseling, advocacy, case management, and residential workshops.
Ensure adequate scheduling and staffing of shelter and housing programs.
Oversee on-call schedule for the residential department and maintain 24-hour availability for crises or emergencies.
Oversee food supply and meal requirements; ensure maintenance and cleanliness of facilities in coordination with supervisor and finance director.
Participate in agency meetings (monthly staff meetings, case reviews, Directors Meetings, NJCEDV, CEAS, etc.) and complete timely staff evaluations.
Ensure adequate training for all direct care staff and support professional development.
Assist the Assistant Executive Director with shelter policy and program development.
Ensure compliance with funder requirements and maintain client files; collect data and generate monthly and required reports.
Recommend and participate in development of new programs; manage foundations and corporate grants and reports.
Maintain relationships with funders and donors; coordinate donations and partnerships with community organizations.
Manage department budget in collaboration with the Director of Finance.
Train all shelter positions to answer the hotline and provide coverage for backup shifts as needed.
Qualifications
MA, MPA, MSW or related degree; LCSW preferred.
Residential domestic violence work experience required.
Minimum 5 years counseling and supervisory experience.
Significant knowledge and sensitivity to issues of domestic violence and homelessness and the intersections of DV with other oppressions.
Familiarity with addiction issues, welfare advocacy, and immigration law.
Commitment to the Mission of the YWCA Union County, empowerment of women and elimination of racism.
Must be bilingual (English and Spanish speaking) and demonstrate cultural competency through experience or education.
Additional Requirements
Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking skills.
Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
Maintain schedule flexibility to meet client needs; be available for some evenings and weekends; occasional second or third shift work may be required.
Must be bilingual in Spanish.
