Touro University California (TUC) is a private, professional, and graduate-degree awarding institution located in the greater San Francisco Bay Area city of Vallejo, California. Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, the Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the OASIS office, designs, delivers, and coordinates learning strategies and solutions for adult learners, and oversees the process of providing accommodations to students with disabilities. The Director works collaboratively with academic faculty and administrators to identify students experiencing academic challenges, evaluate their learning needs, and develop study strategies and learning plans. The Director provides programming to all students who wish to enhance their study skills (e.g., study skills, time management, test taking) and serves as a resource for faculty, staff, administrators, and students to determine how best to provide support for students who are academically struggling. The Director markets available OASIS services and documents their use and effectiveness. The Director oversees the process of providing accommodations to students with disabilities and, when appropriate, makes recommendations for additional follow-up testing or evaluation. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

These are the work assignments that are predominant, regular, and recurring. Supervision and management of a comprehensive OASIS program with attention to academic support and retention of graduate and undergraduate students pursuing professional degrees. Supervise and direct all professional OASIS staff. Provide primary supervision of Tutor Coordinators in each college, act as Alternate Supervisor for all Peer Tutors and Study Hall Monitors, and coordinate with programmatic faculty to identify appropriate peer tutors, provide and supervise training and direction of peer tutors. Design, implement, and incorporate findings from periodic assessments of OASIS services and conduct an annual evaluation of the Department’s contribution to the university’s Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLOs) and Strategic Plans. Maintain knowledge of student trends as they relate to academic interventions designed to improve performance. Enhance awareness and marketing of OASIS services among students, faculty, and staff. Develop partnerships with community resources and referrals. Serve as a designated Campus Security Authority and Responsible Employee under the Clery Act and Title IX regulations. Coordinate university-wide and student affairs events (e.g., new student orientations, commencement ceremonies) and support management of the TUC food pantry and other grant-related initiatives. Learning Assistance for Students

Identify the academic support and developmental needs of students and advocate for supportive learning environments. Develop and implement early-alert systems to identify students at academic risk. Design individualized study strategies and learning plans; monitor progress of each student’s academic improvement plan. Design and deliver programs and presentations on improving academic performance (e.g., learning styles, time management, study skills). Serve as Course Coordinator for the Pathways to Success and Transitions courses taught through OASIS. Services for Faculty

Consult with faculty seeking advice on working with students experiencing academic difficulties. Collaborate with academic program representatives on programmatic student success needs. Raise awareness of OASIS services among students, faculty, and staff; strengthen partnerships with community resources. Lead and coordinate learning assessment for the Division of Student Affairs. Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to serving on committees or work groups. Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervision and training of Learning Specialist(s) Direct supervision of other OASIS personnel as the department grows Supervision of Student Peer Tutor Coordinators Alternate supervision for Peer Tutors and Study Hall Monitors Qualifications

Minimum of Master’s Degree; Doctoral Degree preferred, in Education or a field related to adult learning. 5 years’ experience in adult learning and assessment of learning disabilities. Proven ability to assist adult learners in improving study effectiveness, time management, and test performance. Core Competencies

Office environment with variable demands. Typical activities include standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching, and keyboarding. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required in occasional circumstances. Work Environment

Maximum Salary: USD 88,077 per year. Minimum Salary: USD 70,461.60 per year. Seniority level
