Manifold Bio Get AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features. Manifold Bio is a dynamic biotech company building a pipeline of targeted biologics using a novel in vivo-centric discovery approach.
Our drug discovery engine is differentiated by massively parallel screening
in vivo
from the beginning of our discovery process. This unique platform is powered by a proprietary protein barcoding technology that allows multiplexed protein quantitation at unprecedented scale and sensitivity. We combine this and other high-throughput protein engineering approaches with computational design to create antibody-like drugs and other biologics. Our world-class team of protein engineers, biologists, and computational scientists are working together to aim the platform at therapeutic opportunities where precise targeting is the key to overcoming clinical challenges.
Position
We are looking for a research associate experienced in protein chemistry and bioconjugation. You will be responsible for consistently executing core bioconjugation protocols, proactively contributing to the optimization of our workflows, and bringing your excitement for rigorous science and troubleshooting to our growing team. You will be joining a team with experience in protein chemistry and biochemistry and will work closely with a highly interdisciplinary team of creative experimental, computational, and hybrid scientists to advance our oligomedicines pipeline.
Responsibilities
Consistently execute core bioconjugation protocols for various antibody and oligo pairs. Purify and characterize bioconjugated products to ensure high-quality and reproducibility. Proactively identify and contribute to the optimization of existing bioconjugation and analytical workflows. Efficiently troubleshoot bioconjugation reactions and related biochemical assays. Accurately maintain detailed experimental records and contribute to scientific discussions. Effectively collaborate and communicate with the research team.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific field Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on wet-lab experience in protein production, purification, and biochemistry in an industry setting Experience with bioconjugation chemistry principles and methodologies (e.g., cysteine-based, lysine-based conjugation strategies, and/or enzymatic bioconjugation) Proficiency in basic protein purification techniques (e.g., affinity capture, protein quantification, gel electrophoresis, FPLC-based chromatography) Demonstrated practical experience with antibody production, purification, and handling Proven ability to troubleshoot biochemical assays and optimize experimental protocols A team-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with high-throughput screening or automation Familiarity with various analytical techniques for characterization of biomolecules (e.g., Mass Spectrometry, DLS, BLI, SPR) Familiarity with oligonucleotide chemistry or handling Experience establishing and troubleshooting enzymatic assays
This Role Might Be Perfect For You If
You are excited by the challenge of independently proposing and implementing novel bioconjugation strategies to improve efficiency or yield You enjoy developing and validating new analytical methods to solve technical challenges You are motivated by the opportunity to identify and resolve complex technical challenges that unblock critical project bottlenecks
