The Director reports to the Vice President – Mission and Support Services and is responsible for organizing, planning, training, scheduling, and supervising the operations and personnel of Public Safety. The role includes overseeing surveillance systems, understanding policies related to public safety and emergency management, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, including 24/7 incident response oversight. The Director also manages the annual operational and capital budgets and leads emergency preparedness initiatives to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include coordinating education and drills to prepare for disasters and performing other duties as assigned, including acting as an Officer of the Public Safety Office when necessary. Job Details and Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in criminal science, criminal justice, emergency management, or psychology (required); OR High school diploma with ten (10) years of progressive healthcare public safety, security, or law enforcement experience (required); Master's degree in business or a related field (preferred). Certification & Licenses: Valid driver’s license (required); City of Cape Girardeau Security license within 60 days of hire (required); Membership with IAHSS and/or ASIS International (preferred); BLS certification within 90 days of hire (required). Experience: At least ten (10) years in healthcare management, public safety, security, or law enforcement, with 3-5 years in emergency preparedness or regulatory compliance (required); Five (5) years of leadership experience (required).
