(USC) Keck School of Medicine/Office of SVP for Health Affairs is seeking an
Associate Director
to join its
Health Plans
team. The position reports to the AVP of Health Plans and will partner with the Director of Health Plans Administration to manage USC’s self-funded and fully-insured health plans for faculty, staff and retirees. The Work You Will Do
Plan and develop health and wellness program objectives and content. Research trends and needs; assess quality of program operations; modify existing services or create new program offerings; link programs with other relevant departments on or off campus as necessary. Serve as a key resource for self-funded health plans and wellness program information. Resolve problems or questions referred by program staff, senior university administrators, or external vendors. Develop and recommend program operating and administrative policies. Manage the dissemination, interpretation and application of plan policies; recommend approval of exceptions. Develop services that achieve a high level of customer satisfaction with emphasis on service quality and innovation. Manage and resolve human resource matters and member claims related to the plan. Plan and conduct quality assurance reviews and recommend changes as appropriate. Develop and maintain automated or manual systems and procedures to facilitate program operations. Direct the budget and resource allocations for health and wellness programs. Manage financial performance and identify and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care and services. Develop strategies for communicating and promoting programs, including market research, communications materials and events planning for open enrollment and year-long engagement. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Job Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree 5-7 years of directly related professional and supervisory experience in health insurance programs Preferred qualifications
Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or Health Administration (MHA) or related. Knowledge and experience in managed health care, including claims processing, benefit coverage, provider networks, standard billing requirements, and HIPAA regulations. Knowledge and experience in administering an ERISA-governed health plan. Familiarity with finance management in healthcare, insurance, and pharmaceutical industries is a plus. Strong organizational and project management skills with interpersonal communication (written and verbal) and attention to detail. Proficient with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook. About USC Health Plans
The University Health Plans department oversees medical, dental, vision and prescription care benefits for the university’s faculty, staff and dependents (nearly 19,000 USC benefits-eligible employees / 30,000 lives). Employees may choose from six health insurance coverage options including PPO, EPO and HMO plan types. Employee contributions vary by salary tier and number of eligible family members enrolled. The department supports USC through plan management, design, benefit planning, pricing, financing and budgeting, and member services, balancing central administration’s needs with fiscal discipline. Goals include member education about plan design and features, improving member satisfaction, partnering with Keck providers and plan administrators to improve quality of care and outcomes, cost containment and continuous improvement of self-funded medical plan products and wellness offerings. The annual base salary range for this position is $104,394.49 – $160,000.00.
