Assistant Girls’ Track & Field Coach Reports to: Head Girls’ Track & Field Coach Start Date:
January 12, 2026 School Description: Christ the King Jesuit College Prep, a Catholic school on Chicago’s Westside and a member of the Cristo Rey network, challenges and inspires its young women and men through the integration of academics, work experience, and extracurricular activities to lead lives of integrity, faith, and servant leadership for the greater glory of God. We serve students in grades 9-12 through an innovative corporate internship program that allows students from families of limited financial means to earn most of their tuition costs through jobs in professional settings. Christ the King prepares each student for college through our rigorous college prep curriculum and Corporate Work Study Program. We are proud that every Christ the King graduate is accepted to college each year. The Class of 2025 makes our fifteenth consecutive class of 100% acceptance! Not only have all our graduates been accepted into college, but 94% have enrolled in college after graduation. Summary:
This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student-athletes to develop the skills, attitude, and disposition to become successful track & field athletes. Inherent in this job are the skills necessary to develop disciplined track & field athletes, effective teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Assist the head coach in overseeing the girls’ track & field program. Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in track & field. Works with the head coach to create practice and meet schedules in conjunction with the Athletic Director (AD) and helps communicate said schedule to the athletes. Help ensure the proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all track & field equipment, uniforms, and update inventories before and after the season. Travels with the track & field athletes on the team bus both to and from meets. Secures the athletic office, weight room, locker room, and gymnasium at the conclusion of all practices and stays with athletes at the conclusion of all meets and practices until parents have picked them up. Makes recommendations regarding the purchase of equipment, uniforms, and supplies. Review the weekly eligibility list to ensure that all student-athletes are academically eligible. Ensures all track & field athletes are in the appropriate physical condition from the beginning to the end of the season. Models and instills the values of sportsmanship and fair play to all track & field athletes and enforces consequences for breach of such standards. Maintains a safe environment and facilities for all track & field athletes at all times. Stays up to date with all required paperwork and records, including completing injury reports for athletes within 24 hours of the injury (if the Athletic Trainer is not present), monthly Virtus training, and IHSA requirements. Follows and maintains knowledge of all school policies and procedures. Represents the school in a professional manner in any interactions with students, parents, faculty, and shareholders. Other duties as assigned by AD or the head track & field coach. Requirements Experience with middle school, high school or collegiate track & field Maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care
