The Plant Operations Director provides leadership to the Plant Operations Department at the facility, directing and supporting all work related to the physical plant and ancillary systems, engineering, grounds, security, and safety. This role ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and supports hospital plant operations, safety, and security. The role also provides guidance on construction/remodeling projects and collaborates with hospital leadership to maintain a safe and well-maintained environment.
The Director presents a positive image of the hospital to patients, visitors, physicians, and the public. Oversees the Housekeeping department and works with the Environment of Care Director on Hospital projects.

Essential Functions
Responsible for establishment and oversight of the Organization's Plant Operations Program to include facility maintenance, life safety, and housekeeping operations; ensures Plant Operations and Safety forms meet regulatory standards and provide adequate documentation.
Inspects the facility for proper operation and working conditions. Maintains maintenance records; collaborates with the Corporate Plant Operations Director for auditing and training.
Leads the process of obtaining bids. Coordinates with outside vendors for repairs/replacements beyond the hospital’s scope.
Oversees day-to-day Plant Operations staff to ensure maintenance and repairs follow standard procedures and diagrams or manufacturers’ instructions.
Provides Crisis Intervention and De-escalation training and collaborates with the Environment of Care Director as needed.
Conducts audits of Life Safety Standards; prepares and reviews findings with staff and coordinates plans of correction with the Environment of Care Director and Corporate Plant Operations Director.
Collaborates on construction/remodeling projects to ensure safety standards and cost-effectiveness.
Works with Environment of Care Director as Hospital Safety Officer; coordinates and maintains Housekeeping Department to ensure daily safe cleaning and maintenance.
Determines causes of problems, evaluates solutions, and maintains current expertise; pursues certifications and continuing education as applicable.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
A minimum of 5 years in Facilities Management required; preferred Healthcare experience.
Experience in management/supervision of a Plant Operations Department including EVS, Security, Grounds, Biomed, etc.
Knowledge of facility buildings, equipment, and utilities
High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree in Engineering preferred.
Qualifications / Skills Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions. Mathematics, computer, reasoning and language skills preferred. Must be able to perform heavy work or lifting and carrying, pushing and/or pulling objects; climb ladders; and use hand tools. Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
Work Environment Subject to interruptions and occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high-paced and stressful; must cope mentally and physically with the atmosphere. Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that provides protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
