Primary Purpose:

Responsible for assisting the Advanced Academic Studies department, as needed, including GT testing and/or implementation of campus gifted programs in a manner that fosters the maximum growth of each student.

Qualifications/Skills:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or Teaching Certificate from out of state appropriate for position preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Insightful, flexible, and creative Proficient in the effective use of technology. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. Fluent in English (speaking and writing). Bilingual a plus.

Major Duties and

Responsibilities:

Instructional Strategies:

Assist campus personnel with implementing on-campus PGP program, making necessary accommodations for differences in student learning style. Assist Advanced Academics Department and campuses personnel with GT testing Work cooperatively with staff members to determine assessment goals, objectives and methods according to district requirements.

Student Growth and Development:

Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization:

Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.

Communication:

Establish and maintain open communication. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development:

Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerizes reports, records and other documents required.

Other:

Perform other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used:

Computer, ACTIV Board, copy machine and audio- visual machines.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.

Physical Demands:

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desk and other classroom equipment.
