The Community Relations Department is seeking an experienced Hispanic Community Advocate to join their team.
Responsibilities
Assists the Director and Event Coordinator in coordinating and implementing community outreach programs with appropriate hospital administrative and medical department heads; works with Marketing and Communications to develop marketing strategies to promote Maimonides Health services to the Hispanic Community Assists Director to design and implement policies and protocols that service the Hispanic Community in collaboration with medical and administrative departments. Acts as liaison with hospital medical and administrative departments to provide a continuity of care, both for outpatient specialty referrals and inpatient care to the Hispanic Community. Assists as needed with the coordination of interpretation requests, Spanish information phone line coverage, and visitation of Hispanic inpatients. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Adheres to the Medical Center's policy on Conflict of Interest, which includes completion of a Conflict of Interest Certificate on an annual basis. Coordinates and executes all Hispanic Community Outreach, Special Projects, Conferences and Meetings, including the scheduling and preparation of minutes when required Schedules and manages the schedule of events, including scheduling speakers, booking rooms and venues, making catering arrangements, securing collateral and giveaways. Develops new strategies in collaborating and expanding into new communities. Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with customer service expectations
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in health-related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and implementing human services and healthcare policies and procedures, and/or experience in community relations. Skills: Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to use word-processing, spreadsheet and data base computer programs. Good interpersonal skills. Good organizational skills. Ability to speak in front of large crowds if necessary. Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position; knowledge of Spanish language required.
Pay Range
