Overview
The ADA Eligibility Specialist reviews ADA paratransit application materials, supplemental intake and professional verification forms, conducts in-person interviews, and performs functional assessments to determine eligibility for ADA paratransit service. This role supports the General Manager in directing passenger transit operations and is based in Chicago, IL in support of the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA). Benefits

Determine final eligibility based on the application, interview, functional assessment, and supplementary information Conduct in-person interviews to assess mobility capabilities and review supplemental information Determine required functional assessments for applicants Provide written eligibility determinations to the Client within ADA-required and contracted timeframes Read and interpret ADA paratransit applications, intake forms, and professional verification forms Review interview results and application paperwork; follow up on assessments and professional verification as needed Provide additional written documentation to the Client upon request Assist leadership in identifying process improvement opportunities Conduct functional physical and/or cognitive assessments, including: physical functional assessments (outdoor/indoor courses), FACTS, MMSE, Tinetti Balance and Gait, Beck’s Assessment Apply information obtained to determine the applicant’s capability to independently ride fixed-route transportation Provide required forms to administrative personnel for data-entry and eligibility letter generation Participate in staff meetings with leadership and/or Client Participate in community outreach and education as needed Participate in initial and ongoing training as required by Transdev and Client Complete all necessary reports and maintain applicant tracking logs and reports for Transdev and Client Build rapport and communicate effectively with Transdev and Client personnel at all levels Participate in appeals process, upon request Maintain a positive attitude when interacting with individuals, support staff and caregivers Work with management and the Client to address service issues, troubleshooting problems, concerns, and training Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Rehabilitation, Ancillary Health Care Profession, or related field; or relevant experience with certifications in lieu of a degree (e.g., COTA, OT, PT) 3+ years of professional experience with individuals with disabilities Experience and knowledge of ADA regulations and sensitivity to issues related to people with disabilities and older adults Experience conducting information gathering relating to ADA Paratransit eligibility Intermediate or higher proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of public transportation systems and services Authorized to work in the United States without require sponsorship now or in the future Strong interviewing, assessment, and observational skills; ability to work with a diverse population Ability to learn and administer standardized evaluation tools consistently Ability to clearly communicate findings in database reports and letters Desire to learn additional programs; excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to a rapidly changing environment; ability to work under limited supervision Ability to maintain confidentiality; additional language skills preferred Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check (if based in the U.S.) Physical Requirements
Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions Sit for extended periods; stand and walk long distances; navigate uneven or sloped surfaces Push/pull objects up to 50 pounds; lift up to 50 pounds; occasional bending or crouching Occasionally tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
