Position Overview

The Senior Grant Accountant will perform accounting and financial analysis for NARA programs, lead process improvement and modernization initiatives for the Grant Finance Team, and serve as a resource and adviser to team members. What You Will Do

Proactively monitor program use of grant and contract funds to optimize resources and support program completion. Maintain understanding of grant and contract funding sources and budgets, including interdependencies and compliance requirements. Work with program teams to explain the financial implications of programmatic and operational decisions. Prepare regular monthly budget-to-actual financial reports for program managers. Conduct regular budget meetings with program managers. Grant Reporting: review general ledger entries for allocating expenses to funders (payroll and related expenses, indirect costs, and large events); prepare monthly reconciliations of the general ledger to funder reports and invoices; review expenses for allowability; prepare supporting documentation for reports required by federal grants and other funders; assist with grant audits and funder requests. Collaborate with the Grant Finance Manager to identify areas for process improvement and implement new processes, systems, and tools; onboard and support new Grant Finance team members; advise and troubleshoot as needed; review financial reports and invoices as needed.
