National Office Tax Manager or Senior Manager - Tax Controversy

Overview

Weaver is looking for a Manager or Senior Manager with a specialization in tax controversy to join our growing National Tax Office team. A Tax Controversy Manager or Senior Manager with experience in representing individuals and businesses in tax disputes with taxing authorities. This role includes developing strategies for successful resolutions at all stages of controversy from penalty abatement, exams, appeals, and collections. Experience and ability to manage multiple matters, ability to effectively interpret tax laws and develop supporting positions, and capability to prepare written responses to taxing authorities. A Weaver Manager or Senior Manager works closely with firm leadership and plays a key role in business development, firm administration activities, and development/management of teams. Responsibilities

Develop strategies for successful resolutions at all stages of controversy (penalty abatement, exams, appeals, and collections). Manage multiple matters, interpret tax laws, develop supporting positions, and prepare written responses to taxing authorities. Collaborate with firm leadership on business development, firm administration, and development/management of teams. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field CPA or JD 5+ years of tax controversy experience Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop staff Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Accounting Strong relationship management and practice development skills Ability to attract and service new clients and expand services to existing clients Compensation and Benefits

Compensation range is approximately $125,000 to $290,000 in the California, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York Metropolitan areas. Actual compensation will be based on experience, skills, certifications, and location.
