Associate Director, Operational Risk

will lead efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks across the organization. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, develops effective risk management strategies, and enhances internal processes to reduce exposure. This includes leading the development and execution of customer risk management plans and communicating Anza’s credit policies and lender performance. The

Associate Director, Operational Risk

will collaborate with Anza’s Customer Success (Sales) management team to implement, educate and communicate customer credit risk management strategies. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in risk operations, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in the financial services or mortgage insurance sector is highly preferred. This role will own all counterparty risk reviews, manage related communications, and provide clear, actionable feedback to clients and internal stakeholders. This role combines remote and in-office work, based out of Wilmington, NC. What You'll Do

Develop and implement operational risk controls, processes and policies to reduce exposure and mitigate risk. Utilize data and metrics to monitor and assess lender performance, identify trends and communicate results. Provide leadership, guidance and support that fosters creativity and continuous learning; proactively seek process improvements and operational risk efficiencies. Proactively identify emerging industry trends and customer issues; develop effective and mutually beneficial solutions consistent with credit risk policies. Serve as a point of escalation for exception management and customer resolution management. Clear obstacles and create alternatives to protect the organization and meet customer needs. Work closely with affiliated management teams to identify and develop procedures and process efficiencies. Collaborate with sales management to provide high-level customer service, timely and accurate customer credit risk management plans and customer solutions. Respond to audit findings, as required, and implement necessary corrective remedies in a timely fashion. Qualifications

10–12 years of experience in risk operations, preferably in mortgage insurance or financial services. Expert working knowledge of mortgage insurance, conventional and portfolio residential lending risk management, GSE policies, portfolio lending risks, third-party origination controls and lender loan manufacturing process and policies (a plus). Strong knowledge of operational risk frameworks and regulatory requirements. Proven ability to communicate complex information clearly to internal and external stakeholders including C-Suite.
