Overview
Mattel, Inc. is seeking a talented Product Designer to join its Portfolio Wheels product design team. The group focuses on creating new product opportunities for die-cast vehicles, track sets, play sets, and large-scale vehicles across several vehicle brands; understanding the consumer, trends, and innovation that are translated into successful product concepts communicated in 2D and/or 3D models. This role will be primarily focused on die-cast vehicle design. The ideal candidate will have proven product or vehicle design experience and the ability to work on challenging and fun products while ideating new concepts. What Your Impact Will Be
Actively generate new product designs from licensed or original vehicles Communicate and present concepts to management and internal partners Manage and track a large number of die-cast products and deadlines Partner with Marketing, Development, Packaging, and Cost Engineering to ensure product integrity and objectives Coordinate daily with Mattel Asia Design and Development partners Manage and art direct internal and external support teams and vendors What We’re Looking For
2+ years of product or vehicle design experience Toy/Industrial/Transportation Design degree or related product design experience Experience with product, vehicles, and play set designs Interest and knowledge of current auto and graphic trends Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, or other sketching/ideation programs Understanding of 3D CAD is a plus Strong written and verbal communications skills Adobe Creative Suite proficiency Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes for toy development Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling several projects Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and problem solving A love of toys and vehicles is a plus Personal attributes: Creative, Positive, Self-motivated, Passionate about design, Efficient, Proactive, Organized, Professional maturity How We Work
