Overview
MQ-9B Test and Evaluation Project Engineering position located in Poway, CA. The Project Engineer will work on the MQ-9B Team to develop, test, and field the system for customer operations. The role supports development and fielding of a new UAS variant to an international customer planning to use the system for maritime surveillance missions. The Project Engineer will support both technical and programmatic management of the program, lead engineering, manufacturing, and flight operations teams, report to the MQ-9B engineering manager, and be part of the Chief Engineering team. The candidate will represent the company as a technical subject matter expert on projects, interact with key suppliers, coordinate between internal organizations, and lead execution of program activities. Travel is required to support customer/vendor meetings and integration/testing at our airport facilities in the high desert and other locations. Support operation of engineering systems and document any problems. Devise new approaches to resolve unusual or complex engineering problems. Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements. Provide documentation and make technical presentations as required. Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects. Provide direction to design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff. Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Perform other duties as assigned. Observe all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Job Qualifications
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows: four or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or two or more years of experience with a master’s degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; ability to apply broadly and adapt to related technical specialties. Ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them in evolving environments; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; determine appropriate approaches at task or project level to provide solutions to complex problems. Excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area and lead a team of less experienced professionals on semi-routine tasks. Able to work extended hours as required. A Professional Engineering License is desirable. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required. Compensation and Employment
