Overview
Registrar / Staff Assistant 2 (Nights) – full-time position in the Department of Ambulatory Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. The successful candidate will perform registration duties and related tasks in a night shift schedule. Responsibilities
Interview and verify demographic, biographic, and financial information with patient and/or family members in order to complete a registration using the Eagle Database System. Place wristband on wrist or ankle for children under 2 years of age. Verify insurance eligibility of all patients through EMEV (Medicaid), MCVR (Medicare), EBLC (Blue Cross), and Clearance (for all commercial insurances). Distribute information relating to patient rights and the HIPAA privacy law; obtain patient signature on all necessary forms authorizing consent and acknowledgement of receipt. Reconcile all patient charts; assist patient or family members with inquiries. Admit patient utilizing the Orchestrate System; convert outpatient registration to inpatient; assign beds to all admitted patients; perform bed transfers in Eagle to ensure patient is in correct room for physician to locate patient in HealthBridge. Adhere to all regulatory standards. Attend all registration meetings and complete all training in a timely manner. Order laboratory tests utilizing Cerner database and retrieve results upon request. Demonstrate flexibility as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above position description. Required Qualifications
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Computer application literacy. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree. 1+ year of hospital-based experience. Knowledge of third party billing in managed care. Work Schedule
Variable Days; 12:00am to 8:00am (Full-Time Nights) Salary Grade/Rank
SL-1 Salary Range
