We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to provide AI/Cloud Modernization support to the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (HUD OCIO). The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and operationalization of HUD’s DevOps platform and cloud-native capabilities. This role will support AI/ML modernization efforts by establishing automated pipelines, containerized microservices, data pipelines, and secure cloud infrastructure. Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps for software development, DevOps, and ML Ops initiatives. Establish and manage automated workflows for build, test, and deployment processes. Configure and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) to support new capability development. Develop and manage microservices, containerization, and declarative APIs. Implement data pipelines (Apache Kafka) and automated data validation routines. Support HUD in maturing architectures, technology stacks, coding standards, version control strategies, software integration points, and milestone plans. Embed security in DevOps workflows in coordination with the Senior Security Engineer. Document all processes, configuration management, and privacy/security compliance activities. Participate in AI/ML proofs of concept and scale pilots into enterprise-ready systems. Requirements

Required Experience and Skills 7+ years of DevOps engineering experience, including CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and automation. 5+ years supporting federal IT modernization projects preferred. Experience developing AI/ML-enabled solutions and scaling POCs to production-ready systems. Expertise with microservices, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and API design. Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform). Knowledge of federal security and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST RMF, OMB M-Memos). Previous experience in regulated/federal government environments is a plus. Previous experience supporting HUD OCIO preferred. Ability to pass required Federal background screening and obtain and maintain both government clearance and customer approval. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (required) Master’s degree in related field (preferred) Certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (required) Kubernetes or Docker certification (preferred) CI/CD pipeline automation certification (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps) preferred Physical Requirements

Candidates must reside within daily commuting distance of Washington, D.C. Must be willing and able to travel an estimated 25% of time within the U.S. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Pay Range

The projected annual salary range for this position is $128,000-$142,000 USD. Benefits Information
