About The Position The expected salary range for the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Grade 26, upon hire is $87,235 - $133,833.91. Who We Are Looking For The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (CRNP-PMH) to provide mental health care services in the Adult Behavioral Health Program. What You'll Be Doing This is specialized professional community health nursing work providing mental health care services in an Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN) role as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner – Psychiatric and Mental Health (CRNP-PMH). Nurse Practitioner may assume the role of therapist for their patients and manage the delivery of psychiatric services to their patients in conjunction with therapy. Provides direct psychiatric clinical care services, including but not limited to comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, prescribing and administering medications, to individuals diagnosed with a severe mental health diagnosis, supports their families and works collaboratively with other providers as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Provides group treatment, making appropriate referrals, requesting laboratory and psychological tests and utilizing the results in the context of the patient's therapeutic cause, signing commitment papers and preparing other medico-legal documents when clinically indicated, provides therapeutic interventions alongside of medication management. Maintains appropriate patient records, data, test results and statistics; posts appropriate results and notations in patient charts; and prepares reports. Minimum Qualifications LICENSE: Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner- Psychiatric and Mental Health (CRNP-PMH) required Experience: Three (3) years of full-time equivalent post-licensure experience as a Registered Nurse; two (2) years of these 3 years must have been in the Psychiatric and Mental Health area and one (1) year of these 2 years must have been in community health nursing. Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent program as determined by the Maryland Board of Nursing, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree in Public Health, Community Health Nursing or other appropriate nursing specialty; and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program. Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Master’s Degree or for the required experience, but not for the successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program. LICENSE: Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the United States and certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland issued, or recognized, by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON). Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences There are no preferred criteria. All applicants will be reviewed for minimum qualifications. Hold a master's, postgraduate, or doctoral degree from a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) (formerly NLNAC | National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission) Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric and Mental Health (CRNP-PMH) required Experience/familiarity providing culturally competent services as well as challenges affecting low-income immigrant client population. Experience and training using evidence-based practices to clients with a serious or persistent mental illness Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams and ability to work collaboratively Spanish Basic Preferred to communicate with clients who have limited English proficiency (LEP).
