A IMM is seeking a dynamic and experienced Managing Director to establish and lead a core administrative team. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for translating AIMM's strategic vision into actionable operational plans. Responsibilities
Partner with the Chief Innovation Officer and designee to develop, maintain, and implement AI at Michigan Medicine's strategic and operations plans. Enable the execution and contribute to the evolution of Michigan Medicine's AI strategic plan. Establish and lead a centralized core unit of AI-focused multidisciplinary team members. Develop tools for measuring impact of AI models. Share a vision for an AI-enabled workforce. Lead or coordinate AIMM-wide strategic initiatives. Serve as a voice and representative for AIMM at development events, media opportunities, and campus-wide initiatives. Required Qualifications
Advanced degree in a relevant field (computer science, data science, engineering, healthcare or related field; PhD is a plus) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 7 years of progressively more responsible administrative experience. Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and operational implementation of large-scale data or AI initiatives. Knowledge of university and health system policies, financial systems, and administrative processes. Proven track record of supervision, performance management, and team alignment. Commitment to upholding Michigan Medicine's mission, values, and guiding principles for innovation and patient-centered care. Desired Qualifications
Innovative thinker and problem solver. Demonstrated expertise in responsible AI, bias mitigation, data privacy/regulatory compliance, and operationalization of AI solutions. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, EHR integrations, and modern AI/ML platforms. Experience collaborating with legal, compliance, and risk functions on AI oversight. Experience in an academic medicine or interdisciplinary organizational setting. Familiarity with AI vendor landscape and emerging healthcare technologies. Experience with organizational transformation or startup initiatives within large systems. U-M EEO Statement
