Boly:Welch The ReBuilding Center, a long-standing Portland nonprofit committed to environmental sustainability, reuse, and community empowerment, is looking for its next Executive Director; a mission-driven leader with a strong sense of purpose and a people-first approach. In this highly visible role, you’ll serve as the organization’s strategic and operational leader, guiding staff, engaging with the community, and working closely with the Board of Directors to drive long-term impact. You’ll oversee all facets of the organization, including daily operations, financial management, HR, program strategy, fundraising and stakeholder engagement. This role is ideal for someone who thrives as a builder; entrepreneurial in spirit, resourceful in execution, and energized by the opportunity to problem-solve and innovate. As Executive Director, you’ll empower a passionate team, deepen relationships with partner organizations, and help shape a thriving reuse economy in the Pacific Northwest. You’ll be a spokesperson, mentor, and changemaker, with the opportunity to grow an already strong organization into its next chapter of service and sustainability. Your Day-to-Day As Executive Director, you’ll provide leadership across all areas of the organization. You’ll guide strategic planning efforts, collaborate with the Board, and lead organizational development to ensure alignment with mission and community needs. You’ll manage the organization’s finances, including budgeting, reporting, and fundraising in partnership with the Board. Human resources will also be under your purview: implementing equitable hiring practices, supporting professional development, ensuring legal compliance, and cultivating an inclusive workplace culture. Throughout your work, you’ll champion diversity, equity, and inclusion as a value embedded across all operations, relationships, and decisions. Requirements 7–10+ years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven organizations Demonstrated success managing teams, strategic plans, and cross-functional operations Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and social/environmental justice Proven ability to lead community engagement, stakeholder partnerships, and public-facing initiatives Strong background in budgeting, financial oversight, fundraising, and organizational development Experience with human resources, policy implementation, and staff development Excellent communication skills and comfort working with people from diverse backgrounds Retail or reuse experience is a plus Benefits Benefits include full medical, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance and AD&D; paid time off; an Employee Assistance Program; 401(k); and internal discounts!
