Your New Role The ReBuilding Center, a long-standing Portland nonprofit committed to environmental sustainability, reuse, and community empowerment, is looking for its next Executive Director; a mission-driven leader with a strong sense of purpose and a people-first approach.

In this highly visible role, you’ll serve as the organization’s strategic and operational leader, guiding staff, engaging with the community, and working closely with the Board of Directors to drive long-term impact. You’ll oversee all facets of the organization, including daily operations, financial management, HR, program strategy, fundraising and stakeholder engagement.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives as a builder; entrepreneurial in spirit, resourceful in execution, and energized by the opportunity to problem-solve and innovate. You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty, literally and figuratively, when it comes to understanding operations, supporting your team, or navigating the complexities of community-based work.

As Executive Director, you’ll empower a passionate team, deepen relationships with partner organizations, and help shape a thriving reuse economy in the Pacific Northwest. You’ll be a spokesperson, mentor, and changemaker, with the opportunity to grow an already strong organization into its next chapter of service and sustainability.

Your Day-to-Day As Executive Director, you’ll provide leadership across all areas of the organization. You’ll guide strategic planning efforts, collaborate with the Board, and lead organizational development to ensure alignment with mission and community needs. Day-to-day, you’ll oversee staff and programs, including a nonprofit retail store known to be a Portland establishment and work cross-functionally to ensure operations are smooth, safe, and impactful.

You’ll manage the organization’s finances, including budgeting, reporting, and fundraising in partnership with the Board. Human resources will also be under your purview: implementing equitable hiring practices, supporting professional development, ensuring legal compliance, and cultivating an inclusive workplace culture. You’ll play a hands-on role in community engagement, building relationships with nonprofits, government agencies, funders, and the public to enhance the ReBuilding Center’s presence and partnerships.

Throughout your work, you’ll champion diversity, equity, and inclusion as a value embedded across all operations, relationships, and decisions. You’ll lead with curiosity, compassion, and clarity, setting a tone of collaboration and accountability across the organization.

Your New Organization The ReBuilding Center is a nonprofit reuse organization located in the heart of Portland, Oregon. For over 20 years, they’ve offered affordable reclaimed building materials, repair education, and community-based programs that support environmental sustainability, equity, and economic opportunity.

The organization is deeply embedded in the local community, and its team reflects a broad range of backgrounds, experiences, and expertise. Leadership prioritizes transparency, collaboration, and inclusion—and values the knowledge that already exists within staff, volunteers, and neighbors.

Benefits Benefits include full medical, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance and AD&D; paid time off; an Employee Assistance Program; 401(k); and internal discounts.
