Electrical Project Director - Mission Critical

role at McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. The position manages large data center projects, usually overseeing 2 to 5 projects simultaneously across a region or business unit. The Project Director is responsible for the P&L on each project and manages all levels of risk for projects under their control. Key Responsibilities

Overall leadership of the project team across contracting, financials, schedule, staff development, and craft. Assess and implement development plans for direct reports; ensure performance and development goals are tracked for all staff levels. Collaborate with the broader McCarthy director group to ensure project success. Serve as liaison between office and field, coordinating staffing and movement of field personnel. Review/approve project team on-site setup. Monitor subcontractor bonds and periodically review subcontractor management, change orders, and shop drawings. Maintain a thorough understanding of the McCarthy/Owner contract and oversee field operations to achieve contract compliance. Assist project staff in developing construction schedules and monitor schedule performance, seeking opportunities to improve or expedite. Gain thorough knowledge of projected costs, contingent liabilities, and potential savings/increased profits. Oversee labor cost productivity reporting and overall project financials. Establish and maintain good relationships with owners, design teams, and subcontractors. Oversee the quality management program to achieve contract compliance and deliver a quality project. Champion job site safety efforts and motivate the on-site team to follow McCarthy safety guidelines. Increase McCarthy's visibility in the surrounding community. Identify potential clients and take necessary actions to achieve additional sales. Assist the Marketing Department in preparing presentations and interviews, and participate in interviews. Work with Preconstruction leads to establish and review project budgets in Accubid; coordinate procurement of key materials with Preconstruction leads. Review project contracts and assist in contract negotiations internally and with the client. Implement all applicable EEO/Affirmative Action programs. Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; degrees in other engineering disciplines or Construction Management with relevant experience will be considered. Direct experience leading self-perform electrical scope of $10M+ on multiple commercial or renewable construction projects. 15+ years of progressive experience managing the self-perform electrical scope for a large-scale contractor. Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E. Working knowledge of Accubid estimating software is preferred. Experience leading successful project teams, including development of direct reports and maintaining relationships with external entities. Experience dealing with major suppliers and procurement of large electrical equipment. Excellent organizational, team management, problem-solving, and motivational skills.
