Overview

SSM Health-Dean Medical Group, a 500-physician multi-specialty group, is actively recruiting an experienced Physician Assistant, Cardiothoracic Surgery to work in our Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. The department currently consists of 3 physicians and 6 APs. The Physician Assistant must have post-educational experience as a practicing PA in Cardiothoracic Surgery. SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital offers unmatched robotic surgery capabilities in the region, enabling robotic cardiac and thoracic procedures. We perform a wide range of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery including CABG, valve surgery, aortic aneurysms and dissections, pulmonary resections, and decortications. Ventricular assist devices are not performed. Ideal candidates have surgical first assist experience and a strong interest in operating room work, and must be able to thrive within a high-functioning team. The new PA will assist in the operating room (including endoscopic and open vein and radial artery harvesting), provide in-patient care on the Cardiothoracic Surgery unit, participate in night call on weeknights and weekends (anticipated 1 in 6 for each) for floor patients and OR, and may have rare outpatient clinic duties. Weekend duties include rounds followed by call from home for the OR; full-time intensivists support patient care. Floor patients are managed by PAs with which call is from home via phone.
