Kennesaw State University is seeking a Director, Upward Bound - EDU. The Director will be responsible for the overall design, implementation, management, planning, coordination, and success of the federally funded TRIO program, serving 60 student participants at Hiram High School in Paulding County, Georgia.
The program aims to encourage underrepresented students to overcome barriers to postsecondary education, improve high school retention and graduation rates, and promote college degree attainment. The Director will work with high school administrators, counselors, and staff, as well as representatives of community agencies and KSU instructional and student services areas.
Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing documents for the U.S. Department of Education
Design and coordinate program activities throughout the year
Recruit, identify, screen, and select eligible students
Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive evaluation plan
Assist in developing and managing the annual budget
Develop a marketing plan to advertise the program's purpose and services
Recruit, screen, select, and recommend staff
Supervise assigned staff
Assist in providing workshops for participants
Establish policies and procedures for the program
Ensure all project goals and objectives are met
Participate in professional development activities
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Education Administration, Business, Technology, or a related field
Current, valid, and unrestricted Georgia driver's license
Three years of experience in designing, managing, or implementing similar programs
Preferred Qualifications:
Academic Coaching certification
Advanced degree in a related field
Abilities:
Able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Able to supervise and evaluate staff
Able to develop and manage a budget
Knowledge of current computer technology and higher education admissions and financial aid policies
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication, time management, project management, and presentation skills
