About the role
StrikeWeb is Delian’s real-time command and control platform for autonomous systems, delivering operational insight and coordination across a fleet of robotics agents in critical national security and defense applications. As a
Senior Backend Engineer , you’ll design and build the robust and scalable infrastructure that enables high-throughput data processing, real-time decision pipelines, and seamless integration across sensors and actuators. This is a mission-driven engineering role ideal for backend developers who are motivated by building scalable, reliable and impactful production-critical systems. In this role you will get to
Design and develop scalable backend services that integrate and process real-time sensor data across distributed systems.
Build core infrastructure and deployment pipelines to support continuous delivery of StrikeWeb capabilities to production.
Develop testing frameworks for validating backend logic in both software-only and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
Benchmark application performance under load and drive systemic optimizations in latency, throughput, and resiliency.
Collaborate cross-functionally with frontend, robotics, DevOps, and product teams to deliver end-to-end capabilities from concept to field deployment.
What previous experience would make you successful in this job

A degree in engineering or similar field.
A track record of building, deploying and maintaining software driven solutions to actual users.
5+ years of backend development experience, including building and deploying production-grade scalable services.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, networking fundamentals, and real-time or near-real-time application architectures.
Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Python, Go, Rust, Java, or C++ and deep understanding of their respective ecosystems.
Experience with API design for control systems and event-driven architectures (e.g., gRPC, Kafka, MQTT).
Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native services for compute, storage, and messaging.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern build/deployment toolchains (e.g., GitHub Actions, Docker, Terraform).
Experience integrating with and/or building telemetry, monitoring, and alerting stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
Experience with robotics systems, embedded software, or high-throughput sensor data processing.
Experience with high-performance networking, stream processing frameworks, and/or time-series databases.
Background in security-focused or defense-related backend systems with reliability and auditability requirements.
Contributions to open-source backend frameworks, infrastructure tools, and/or monitoring systems.
