Backend Engineer , you will help build the high-performance services that power data ingestion, situational awareness, and decision-making for national security and defense operations. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to real-world robotics infrastructure at scale, with rapid iteration cycles and a direct line from code to deployment. In this role you will get to
Develop and maintain core backend services that integrate real-time sensor and telemetry data for fielded autonomous systems.
Build scalable, cloud-native APIs and systems that support real-time workflows and high-throughput processing.
Create automated deployment and integration pipelines to support a continuously evolving service ecosystem.
Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and robotics engineers to ensure seamless data flow and system reliability.
Contribute to testing and benchmarking systems to validate performance and robustness under real-world conditions.
Must have experience
3+ years of experience developing and deploying production backend systems.
Solid programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, Go, Rust, C++, or Java.
Strong understanding of web application architecture, backend frameworks, and networked systems.
Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized environments.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version-controlled workflows (e.g., GitHub, GitLab).
Exposure to monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
Nice to have experience
Experience with real-time data processing or telemetry-driven systems.
Familiarity with messaging systems or streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, MQTT, WebSockets).
Background in robotics, simulation, or embedded systems integration.
Understanding of API design principles (REST, gRPC) and backend service security.
Involvement in infrastructure performance tuning or observability improvements.
