Overview
This position is a hybrid role based at our Denver Headquarters, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday through Thursday).
The Payor Partnerships team manages an $8B revenue portfolio and a high-growth national value-based care business that encompasses more than $5B of medical spend. Within the Payor Partnerships team, the Strategy function sets the long-term vision of our team and drives disruptive thinking on how we should approach our portfolio of payor relationships and contract negotiations. Spanning negotiating strategy, product strategy, marketing strategy, and broader enterprise strategy, we drive high-priority initiatives from concept to execution. We work at the forefront of a very dynamic healthcare business and policy landscape.
The Payor Partnerships team has extensive experience in strategy consulting, managed care, finance, and negotiations. As a
Manager of Strategy & Special Projects , you’ll help shape the future of our business by working on high-priority strategic initiatives. Your work will directly impact a significant portion of DaVita’s overall revenue and the care experience for hundreds of thousands of patients. This is a unique opportunity for a strong strategic thinker who wants to see the direct impact of their work, both on business outcomes and on the healthcare system more broadly.
Example projects
Setting the negotiating strategy for renewing our dialysis rate and value-based care management contracts with a large, national payor across multiple lines of business
Building a business case for developing a new value-based financial product
Assessing the impact of a new healthcare policy on the payor industry, and translating into what it means for us and our partners in the short and long term
Identifying disruptive opportunities to ensure that our annual rate increases exceed inflation and cost trends
Refining our value proposition to payors across our dialysis and value-based kidney care management businesses
Responsibilities
Lead strategic initiatives from concept through execution, establishing frameworks that lend structure to complex, ambiguous problems
Create high-quality presentations with clear strategic recommendations for senior leaders, including C-suite executives
Manage project teams of analysts; coach, mentor, and train more junior members of our team
Independently structure and lead analytics to support strategic decision-making
Work cross-functionally and exert influence without formal authority in a large organization
Quickly build expertise by researching new areas of the healthcare landscape, synthesizing findings into key takeaways and next steps
Qualifications
Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience
Experience in healthcare strategy within a top-tier consulting firm or provider, payor, or healthcare services organization
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to bring structure to complex, ambiguous questions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver clear recommendations and influence decision-makers
Highly proficient in PowerPoint and Excel
High degree of ownership, accountability, and a “get stuff done” mindset
Collaborative mindset with experience working across functions and teams
Comfortable in a fast-paced, feedback-rich environment with shifting priorities
Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to determine appropriate level of analytical rigor needed to answer a strategic question
Comfortable challenging the status quo, introducing fresh perspectives, and participating in productive debate
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred, but not required
