Overview
Business Development Specialist - Transactional at WilmerHale. The role supports revenue generation, marketing, and visibility efforts for practice and industry groups including Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring, Corporate, Labor & Employment, Life Sciences, Real Estate, Tax and Technology. The Specialist works with the Transactional Business Development Manager and team on a broad range of initiatives and assists in strategic planning and tactical execution, including research and analysis in support of Department objectives. Responsibilities
Support and, where required, lead the planning and execution of firm events including seminars, webinars, client entertainment and receptions, in collaboration with the firm’s Operations and Events department. For firm events, lead audience development by developing targeted invitation lists, tracking RSVPs, attendee engagement and follow-up efforts. Maintain the firm’s contact management database (InterAction) and perform queries and generate reports as needed. Support and coordinate sponsorships and annual memberships to fully leverage benefits. Prepare sophisticated, thoughtful and persuasive pitch materials, including RFP responses and tailored marketing collateral. Collaborate with the Library to review and conduct research on companies, industries, marketplaces and competitors related to pitches and strategic initiatives; develop insights and communicate recommendations to lawyers. Gather intelligence on legal industry trends to inform attorneys about the competitive landscape and position the firm to win new business. Contribute to market recognition efforts, including overseeing the development of legal directory submissions (Chambers USA, Legal 500, etc.). Coordinate with Public Relations, Communications, and Digital Marketing teams to identify and promote key deals, matters, client news and practice highlights. Maintain the firm’s experience and content management database (Foundation) and generate reports as needed. Propose and support marketing communications activities, such as website updates and enhancements to attorney biographies and online profiles including LinkedIn. Performs special projects as requested by Clients & Markets leadership team. Display integrity, quality service and a proactive, collaborative attitude with internal teams and external clients and vendors via email, telephone and in-person. Qualifications
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven experience in a dynamic environment with high expectations for superior client service, attention to detail and quality. Ability to work in a collegial team environment with a flexible mindset, focus on continuous improvement, and willingness to collaborate and lend support where needed. Strong time management skills to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines. Research skills and the ability to turn data into succinct, useful deliverables for lawyers. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Education & Experience
BA/BS required. Three to five or more years of experience in a legal environment or professional services marketing and business development role preferred. Employment Type
