Job Summary : The Quality NDT Leader is responsible for assuring compliance to plant, corporation, customer, and industry standards of the non-destructive testing methods. This position will be responsible for leading audits and driving continuous improvement efforts to improve quality and process controls. Anticipated Pay Range : $93K-110K per Year. Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities : Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace’s value and policy statement and its accompanying principles; Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations; Wear all required personal protective equipment; Report all job-related illness and injuries; Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner; Attend all EH&S training. Job Responsibilities : Ensure that NDT methods and procedures meet the customer and industry standards. Maintain compliance of products and processes in manufacturing to specific company, industry, and customer requirements. Support L3s in maintaining training and certification of NDT personnel. Monitor quality and productivity trends. Initiate and lead continuous improvement of NDT-related manufacturing processes to improve quality, reduce costs, and ensure product quality objectives are met. Support internal and external audits of the NDT processes. Effectively manage and develop direct reports and ensure succession plans are in place to have a sustained quality work force. Be a team player and develop relationships, both internally and externally, to achieve the necessary leadership engagement, management influence and customer connections. Maintain lines of communication with customers. Provide technical support to Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing and Sales. Develop, maintain and implement enhancements to the quality system or processes that result in improved quality performance, increased customer satisfaction, and/or simplification of processes to reduce costs. A thorough understanding of problem solving, root cause analysis, and quality improvement tools and techniques. Effectively communicate and reinforce commitment to quality systems and continuous improvement efforts. Participate in the quality reporting and management review process. Assist with the analysis of data and metrics, generate relevant reports and lead improvement initiatives, as directed. Standardize metrics and best practices. JOB SPECIFICATIONS : Knowledge in Statistical Tools and Techniques, NDE, APQP and Measurement System Analysis; Ability to lead cross functional quality and process improvement initiatives. Ability to multitask with numerous aspects of the day to day job; Possess production operation knowledge and experience relating to manufacturing, inspection, engineering and customer interaction; Ability to develop and maintain quality processes and systems that meet both customer and regulatory requirements and work for the business. Ability to identify, control and mitigate appropriate levels of systems, process and product risk; Must consistently demonstrate Company values and perform within the performance management framework; Must exhibit strength to stand on decisions which are not popular but open minded enough to effectively evaluate what is best for the business. Must exhibit strong initiative to include high performance, anticipate opportunities, set challenging goals, act proactively to address issues and opportunities and be a self-starter; The ability to prioritize and appropriately delegate responsibility while maintaining accountability. Basic Qualifications : This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment is required for this position. A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory/leadership experience is required. Knowledge of non-destructive testing methods. Experience with quality tools, such as CAPA, six-sigma, lean manufacturing, PPAP, FMEA, problem solving techniques, root-cause-analysis. RELOCATION : Relocation benefit maybe offered for this position. Preferred Qualifications : Experience working with AS9100 QMS standards. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED : In a normal workday, job requires very frequent sitting and a viewing monitor also requires frequent standing and walking; Lifting and carrying is typically limited to 10 lbs. or less and up to 25 lbs. occasionally; Specific vision requirements must be met for this position; This position requires occasional travel and duties may be performed in various manufacturing settings. Mental Requirements : Essential Cognitive Skills include frequently to continuously managing others, having the ability to make decisions, understanding and memory and social interaction with internal and external contacts; Ability to develop strong quality people by using best mentoring, coaching and grooming skills with long term planning.
