This is a hybrid-based role (office and remote) based in San Francisco, Austin, Salt Lake City, Chicago, or New York City. The mission of Gong’s Sales Engineering team is to be trusted partners, advising on complex workflows and guiding customers toward an AI-first go-to-market strategy to help them achieve their desired business outcomes. As a Director on this team, you will build and lead a team of Sales Engineering Managers supporting Commercial, Mid-Market, and Enterprise segments, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to drive solution-based selling of Gong’s Revenue AI platform. Responsibilities

Build a customer-focused, high-performing team that clearly communicates business outcomes and value of the Gong platform. Recruit, mentor, and empower managers and sales engineers to maximize potential and contribute to team and company goals. Foster collaboration within the Sales Engineering team and partner with Sales to drive revenue growth. Optimize workflows and remove bottlenecks by working with Sales, Customer Success, Support, and Product teams to ensure smooth deal execution. Cultivate relationships with key strategic customers. Build and maintain strong relationships with Product Marketing, Sales Enablement, Sales Operations, and Product/Engineering to meet and exceed objectives. Model and enforce Gong’s Operating Principles in daily practice and team interactions. Qualifications

6+ years building and managing high-performing Sales Engineering teams with proven experience as a leader of leaders. 12+ years of relevant Sales Engineering experience. Demonstrated ability to lead a customer-facing team with strong people management, mentoring, coaching, and development skills. Experience building a team from the ground up with willingness to engage directly on deals, embodying a collaborative leadership approach. Ability to foster trust and collaboration among team members and cross-functional stakeholders. Strong business acumen with deep understanding of GTM personas and workflows. Experience with sales technology (CRMs, cloud architecture, telephony/web conferencing). Familiarity with data flows, AI/ML concepts, analytics, APIs/webhooks, and JSON. Understanding of security and privacy considerations for SaaS. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively. The target OTE for this position is $260,000–$290,000. Compensation is based on factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Gong employs a location-based compensation structure, and total compensation may include base salary, incentive compensation, bonus, equity, and benefits.
