Chief of Pediatric Radiology We are accepting applications and nominations for the position of Chief of Pediatric Radiology at UT Health San Antonio. The Chief will serve as the clinical, operational, and academic leader of the Pediatric Radiology Divisional faculty and staff, appointed by and reporting to the Stewart R Reuter Distinguished Chair in Radiology. UT Health San Antonio, one of six health institutions in The University of Texas System, is a major center for health professions education and life sciences research in South Texas, providing comprehensive patient care. The university comprises five schools: the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Dentistry, the School of Nursing, and the School of Health Professions. Collaborative programs include public health with UT Health Houston and pharmacy with The University of Texas at Austin, along with partnerships through the San Antonio Life Sciences Institute and a biomedical engineering degree program. The pediatric radiology section offers comprehensive imaging services for children in San Antonio, including inpatient care at the new Sky Tower, a 58-bed level IV neonatal ICU, pediatric trauma (the only level II trauma center in South Texas), and pediatric and cardiac ICUs. Outpatient imaging is provided at various locations including the Robert B. Green Campus, Express-Med Clinic, MARC, and UT Health Hill Country, utilizing modalities such as radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear imaging. The Division Chief will lead efforts to deliver high-quality pediatric care in a professional and cost-effective manner. The role involves collaboration with the Department Chair to engage faculty in scholarly activities, clinical training, and mentorship. The Chief promotes a culture of collaboration, clinical excellence, innovation, and scientific discovery within the division. The Chief is also an advocate and representative of the Pediatric Radiology Divisional faculty in departmental and hospital leadership activities, embodying UT Health San Antonio’s core values in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues. Education and Certifications: MD, DO, or MD/PhD with leadership experience in an academic setting Board certification by the American Board of Radiology and fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology Ability to obtain an unrestricted Texas medical license, DEA, and Texas DPS certificates Experience in recruiting faculty and staff (preferred) Experience in mentoring faculty Ability to develop and build innovative programs Understanding of general clinical disciplines within Pediatric Radiology San Antonio is the seventh most populous city in the U.S. and the second in Texas, with over 1.5 million residents. Located in south-central Texas, it is part of the Texas Triangle and is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country.
