Job Description Ares is seeking a full-time Vice President/Principal to join our Insurance Solutions team. The candidate will work closely with senior members of Ares Insurance Solutions (“AIS”) on various activities related to the investment portfolio. AIS provides asset management, capital solutions, and corporate development services to Ares Management’s strategic initiatives in insurance, including Ares’ new life and annuity platform, Aspida Financial. Primary Functions & Responsibilities Manage existing portfolios to execute strategic asset allocation plans, ensuring alignment with AIS/Aspida goals. Drive discussions with asset managers on investment portfolios, including market opportunities, performance, and compliance with guidelines. Enhance investment capabilities across new asset classes to support Aspida’s competitive positioning. Develop and manage portfolio management monitoring, tracking, and reporting tools. Assist with the evaluation and due diligence of new asset class strategies and managers. Oversee the preparation of investment committee memos and manage onboarding for new managers/strategies. Lead relationships with specific Aspida entities and communicate market observations, investment strategies, and performance. Partner with Aspida for the onboarding of new clients/entities. Develop professional relationships with risk management, actuarial, financial, and other Ares/Aspida team members. Provide mentoring and guidance to junior team members. Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Economics, Math, or Business. Professional designations such as CFA, CPA, FRM, CAIA, etc., or an MBA are viewed favorably. 8+ years of relevant experience as an insurance investment professional, with a preference for liability-centric portfolios and working with third-party asset managers. Broad strategic investment perspective with advanced knowledge of asset liability management, accounting, and regulatory capital specific to life and annuity insurance companies. Significant exposure to fixed income insurance portfolio management, including portfolio performance measurement and asset and liability management. Experience developing and implementing strategies, creating investment policies and guidelines, and building infrastructure to support an insurance company’s balance sheet. High level of business integrity, entrepreneurial mindset, and strong analytical acumen. Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, demanding environment. Proven record of delivering and exceeding expectations in a client-centric role. Solid quantitative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive attitude. Experience mentoring and training junior team members. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with working knowledge of Bloomberg and Clearwater a plus. Compensation The anticipated base salary range for this position is $200,000-$250,000.
