Tesla . What to Expect: Tesla is seeking an experienced Materials Test Technician to support battery design and development. You will operate and maintain the Materials Test Lab in Palo Alto. The successful candidate will conduct analytical testing, mechanical testing, materials validation, quality control, and failure analysis investigations across multiple battery and vehicle programs. You will also maintain the lab and equipment and organize test workflow. What You'll Do

Perform a wide variety of tests on a broad spectrum of materials. Test competence should include analytical characterization (TGA, DSC, DMA, SEM-EDS, FTIR, rheometry, thermal conductivity, resistivity, among others), mechanical testing (universal testing machine for tensile, compression, shear, torsion, and related tests), environmental aging (humidity and thermal cycling), data acquisition and analysis. Independently outline and follow DOEs, interpret results, and issue test result reports. Manage laboratory assets, ensuring all equipment is maintained, calibrated and serviced. Work safely in lab settings. Develop, author, and ensure conformance to laboratory standard operating procedures. Support engineering staff in root cause analysis and failure analysis workstreams. What You'll Bring

Bachelor's degree in a technical field, with 1+ years materials test experience, or proven track record of materials test experience. Basic knowledge of materials automotive test standards (e.g. ASTM, ISO). Basic knowledge related to polymers, composites, coatings, adhesives (manufacturing methods and failure modes). Experience working with hazardous materials, with a willingness to promote health and safety across the team. Excellent organization, collaboration and communication skills (e.g. report writing). Detail-oriented, able to work independently and in a collaborative, project-focused environment. Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Benefits

Expected Compensation: $28.80 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include other elements. Details
