Overview
Senior System Engineer (Network) role at UICGS / Bowhead Family of Companies in Dahlgren, VA. The position maintains multiple computing environments by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance, and managing network configuration consistency. The Senior Systems Engineer provides engineering, design, and implementation solutions for multiple network architectures. Responsibilities
Implement local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data networks Maintain network availability in multiple environments by administering Cisco campus-based switching with fiber-based and copper-based Ethernet connectivity (1G and 10G) Install, manage, and maintain Cisco switching components to support campus, WAN, and distributed core architectures. Work with Cisco chassis-based systems, Internet circuit termination equipment, and advanced Cisco management tools Manage Cisco Prime Infrastructure and analyze network health, workflow, access, information, and security requirements; perform router/switch administration, interface configuration, and switching protocols Demonstrate experience with network routers and switches, and strong Cisco switch and router configuration Work with TCP/IP, DNS, 802.1x, ACLs, ARP, RADIUS, IPv6, DHCP, Intrusion Prevention, Authentication, and ISP circuit connections Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and system performance Perform network modeling and analysis Define diagrams and designs for business technology initiatives Enforce policies for standardizing systems Maintain and monitor core backbone network services in multiple computing environments by identifying connectivity requirements; perform network upgrades; monitor devices and logs; manage wired connections and backbone infrastructure Qualifications
Five to eight (5-8) years of experience Security+, CCNA or CCNP (If CCNA, must be willing to obtain CCNP within 9-12 months) Strong background in Cisco switching and TCP/IP protocol analysis Backend experience with DNA/CCENT, Wireshark, and TACLANE is highly desirable but not required Previous experience in networking, IT, or related fields Familiarity with researching communication networks Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills Attention to detail, good documentation skills, and ability to write clear, concise project reports Ability to work with minimal instruction or supervision, or as part of a larger team reporting to formal project management; strong communication and organizational skills Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 10-25 pounds Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically Security Clearance Requirements: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Top Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Top Secret clearance at this location. Additional Details
