We are seeking an experienced and charismatic engineer for a customer-facing Solutions Engineer role. This position supports Sales by providing insights, feedback, and sharing knowledge from the aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing community. It combines customer engagement, technical expertise, and project management. The Solutions Engineering team reports to the Pre-Sales Engineering department, which is jointly led by Sales and Operations.

Responsibilities:
Customer Engagement and Sales:
Partner with Account Executives to drive account growth and retention.
Discover, analyze, organize, and execute major projects.
Join onsite visits with customers when appropriate.
Proactively identify and address manufacturing challenges, including DFM.
Stay informed about customer projects and initiatives to align with Xometry's capabilities.
Gather customer insights to inform sales strategies.
Pre-Sales Engineering:
Assist with knowledge gathering, analysis, and preparing accurate, competitive quotes.
Combine customer, partner, and Xometry system knowledge to address needs and manage projects to delivery.
Provide project management and oversight on complex opportunities.
Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant experience in aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience using Xometry’s services as a customer; partner experience is a bonus.
Deep familiarity with organizations such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, SpaceX, etc.
Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, drawings, and GDT.
Extensive experience in CNC machining; knowledge of composites, plastics, harnesses, and sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
Familiarity with ISO9001, AS9100d, ITAR, NIST, and related compliance standards.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, including in remote/digital environments.
Ability to travel to customer and partner sites (25%-35%).
Location preference: Mountain or Pacific time zones.
Experience with CRM systems like Salesforce.
Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
