Role Purpose
As an Industrial Maintenance Technician, you will perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain highly automated and advanced production machinery and equipment according to predictive maintenance schedules to ensure smooth operation of equipment, minimize downtime, and meet efficiency goals.
Accountabilities & Impact
Safety / Food Safety
- Adhere to all Plant and Safety policies and procedures, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Ensure equipment meets safety standards and regulations.
Technical Expertise
- Troubleshoot equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Plan and execute predictive/preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Root-cause problem solving to identify and implement repairs and improvements.
- Participate in projects involving equipment upgrades or installations.
- Utilize fabrication skills (cutting and welding: MIG, TIG or Stick) and work with electrical systems (e.g., 480VAC & 24VDC).
- Read and interpret schematics for process and instrumentation diagrams; repair VFDs, servo motors and controllers, communication systems, PLC I/O cards, and safety modules.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and observations.
- Complete PMs/work order paperwork before departure from plant.
- Coordinate with team members when passing ongoing work to the next shift.
- Assist the lead with developing/updating SOPs.
Team Collaboration
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production and other departments to minimize disruption; communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Inventory Management
- Find parts in the CMMS system; document parts used per inventory control guidelines; optimize use of tools and equipment.
Communication
- Ensure smooth shift changes by communicating progress, equipment conditions, and outstanding issues to incoming shifts; escalate safety, quality, performance, productivity, and teamwork concerns to the supervisor as needed.
Training and Development
- Share specialist technical knowledge with peers; provide training to production staff on basic equipment operation and routine maintenance tasks.
Process Improvement
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, equipment/facility upgrades, and permanent corrective actions for recurring problems; perform other duties as required.
Skills & Experiences Needed
- High School diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
- 1–3 years of industrial maintenance experience in high-speed manufacturing; beverage or packaging experience preferred.
- Safe use of hand and power tools, welders, lifts, multi-meters, and other industrial shop equipment.
- Ability to read/interpret schematics for process diagrams; repair VFDs, servo motors/controllers, communication systems, PLC I/O, and safety modules.
- Forklift experience a plus (certification not required).
- Proficient in MS Office and CMMS software.
Working conditions
- Exposed to occupational hazards including high noise levels, chemicals, and other hazards.
- Subject to extreme heat/cold temperatures; able to lift up to 50 lbs; stand/move 8–12 hours; ascend/descend stairs or ladders.
- Fast-paced and changing environment; must wear PPE (bump cap, safety toe shoes, safety glasses, masks or PAPRs) and follow GMPs.
