Responsibilities:

Our Material Handling Group is currently looking for a full-time Forklift Field Service Technician for our Traverse City, MI branch. This position is first shift, M - F, and hourly (no flat rate!). Field Technicians are provided a company service van, which is provided for our Techs to drive home (you don't leave it at our shop at the end of the day), along with a fuel card. The primary responsibilities include:

• Performing preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
• Diagnosing and repairing all forms of customer equipment
• Completing each repair job in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
• Providing exceptional customer service
• Managing workloads independently
• Proper completion and submission of all required paperwork
• Maintaining company vehicle and on-board parts inventory
• Incorporating Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Performing other duties as assigned
• Maintaining consistent, reliable attendance and being ready for work at the designated start time

Qualifications:

• Two years of previous forklift repair experience highly desired, including military, guard, or reserve MOS or NEC codes such as 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M, or CM
• Previous field experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• Own tools required
• Clean driving record and valid driver's license
• Experience with HYPASS, Hyster TKC software, and Yale/Hyster contact management system
• Intermediate reading, writing, and speaking skills in English
• Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations
• Intermediate reasoning skills for problem-solving and instructions

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach; frequently talk/hear; occasionally sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
• No special vision requirements
• Lift up to 10 pounds regularly; 11-25 pounds frequently; up to 100+ pounds occasionally
• Work near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes, outdoor weather, wet/humid conditions, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, vibration
