The Prince William County Police Department is seeking an experienced law enforcement leader with strong communication skills and financial acumen who has experience in the administration of a large police agency to fill the role as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). This position will facilitate numerous organizational initiatives to creatively address problems and improve service to a growing, diverse, and dynamic community.
Responsibilities
Serve as the executive leader of the business services and functions of the police department with critical impact on the organization and the community.
Exercise strategic and visionary thinking with long-term organizational applications by developing strategies and programs critical to the police department.
Oversee finance and budget, information technology, grant management, performance management, facilities management, policy, and strategic crime and intelligence analysis.
Collaborate with the senior leadership team and community partners to address issues in policing.
Minimum Requirements High school diploma or G.E.D. and 8 years of related state, local, or federal government or law enforcement experience and supervision of operations, budget/finance and/or administration.
Preferences
15+ years police experience with state or local government, and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
Education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree in public administration, finance, accounting, information technology, or related field, is preferred.
Advanced training in police or law enforcement administration is also preferred.
Demonstrated experience with oversight of Police Department Operations, Budget/Finance, and/or administration.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must pass a DMV record check and police department background investigation.
Must pass a drug screening.
Work Schedule The normal schedule will consist of traditional business hours of Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm; however, the Chief Administrative Officer will have to flex work hours to meet the department’s mission and may require evening or weekend hours to meet with community groups or other assigned teams. This position is subject to call out for law enforcement incidents or situations.
Hiring Salary Range $142,188.64 - $192,372.87
Benefits Prince William County Government offers medical plans with corresponding pharmacy and basic vision coverage, as well as dental plans and a separate vision plan. Full-time and part-time Prince William County Government employees are eligible to participate in our plans; however, the level and cost of benefits depends on the classification of the position. The following positions do not accrue leave and are not eligible for holidays or other fringe benefits: Temporary, Provisional, Seasonal employees.
